Baccarat's long history dates back to Italy where it originated in the late 1400's. It quickly spread to other countries attracting players from all over Europe. Even the nobility of France, where Baccarat became popular in the early 1500's found its appeal too thrilling to resist.
Baccarat finally landed in America in 1959 when Las Vegas first began offering it to its customers. It immediately became known as "American Baccarat".
Today, "California Baccarat" is in the forefront. The components of the game make it exciting and simple to play, thereby assuring its success well into the future.
California Baccarat is played with a shoe that contains eight standard 52-card decks plus eight Jokers. A joker may have any numerical value from "0" to "9".
The total number of cards in a shoe is 424.
