The Annie Duke Texas Hold-Em Poker Tournament to Benefit 1736 Family Crisis Center was held on Saturday, April 3rd, 2010, here, at the Bicycle Casino Event Center. The purpose of the charity event was to raise money for domestic violence victims and homeless youth. Festivities began at 2:30 p.m. with registration, dinner with cocktails, and a Meet & Greet with host: Annie Duke. Also on hand were the film crew and cast members of the soon to be released reality show, “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” the latest installment of the Bravo “Real Housewives” franchise.

Annie Duke was at her best as she taught a couple of the Beverly Hills Housewives how to play the game of No-Limit Hold’Em and mingled with the crowd of tournament participants. There were a total of 139 event entrants, each having bought in for $350.00. In addition to the buy-in, players contributed towards 1736 Family Crisis Center with their multiple $100.00 re-buys. Duke even announced to the crowd that she would play the worst poker of her life during the re-buy period as further encouragement for people to get-it-in-good for a great cause.
Upon completion of the re-buy period, those participants that were not fortunate enough to have amassed a healthy stack of chips were systematically knocked out. Prizes and trophies were awarded to everybody who made the final. In 1st place was Beverly Hills Mayor, Jimmy Delshao who received the grand prize, $10,000 in cash. Chris Chaput placed 2nd and received private poker lessons with Annie Duke, while 3rd place winner Gina Hecht will be enjoying a 5-Day Hawaiian getaway. Rounding off the top five were Alan Friedman (4th - La Quinta-Round of Golf) and John Hennigan (5th - Emmitt Smith autographed football). Also at the final table were 6th place finisher Don Perkins who won a pair of Oscar De la Hoya autographed Boxing Gloves; Sam Simon in 7th and the recipient of dinner and 2 night accommodation at Ayres Hotel; in 8th place was Alex Gammell who received accommodation at the Terranea Oceanview Resort; a $1,000 bottle of wine went to 9th place finisher Jon Hair; and, in 10th place was Jose Cancesco who will be peddling around on a designer trick bicycle.
